Ron Paul’s Son Unlikely to Run for Senate

By    |   Saturday, 23 April 2011 11:31 AM EDT

Robert Paul, a son of Texas GOP Rep. Ron Paul, made noises recently that he was considering a run for the U.S. Senate seat Robert Paul, Rand Paul, Texas, Senatebeing vacated by fellow Republican Kay Bailey Hutchison. But the brother of freshman Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul says he’s probably not going to run this time around, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

“I’m honored that people think I’m ready to run, but I think they want me to run because I’m related to Ron Paul,” he said in a speech at the University of North Texas. “I think the biggest thing I have that’s similar to my dad is that I’m honest,” he said.

“I’m never going to say I won’t ever run for office, but I think running for Senate probably is not going to happen this time.”
