RNC Pulls in More Money Than DNC in March

The Republican Party’s fundraising is regaining its momentum from last year’s smashing election victories. The Republican National Committee (RNC) raised more money in March than the Democratic National Committee (DNC), The Hill reports.

The RNC garnered $7.2 million in March, compared with $6.7 million for the DNC, according to filings at the Federal Election Commission. To be sure, the Democrats prevailed for the first quarter as a whole, with the DNC taking in $21 million, compared with $18.1 million for the RNC.

The RNC was in a bit of turmoil until Reince Priebus took over as chairman, replacing Michael Steele in mid-January.

In terms of debt, the DNC had more than $17 million at the end of March, compared to $19.8 million for the RNC. But the RNC’s total dropped $1.3 million during the month.
