GOP Senate Majority Releases Ad Accusing Dems of Stoking Mob Violence

By    |   Thursday, 03 September 2020 07:27 PM

The National Republican Senatorial Committee has released a new political ad accusing the Democratic Party of urging people to riot in cities around America.

The ad strings together snippets of Democratic lawmakers appearing to stoke angry street confrontations toward Republicans. It also splices in news clips of riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin and Portland, Oregon with video of demonstrators antagonizing Republican lawmakers during the nomination acceptance speech for President Donald Trump in Washington, D.C.

The NRSC is an organization dedicated to "strengthening the Republican Senate Majority and electing Republicans to the United States Senate," according to its website.

“Democrats invited it,” a voice-over in the ad says. “Another night of violent protests ... continuing across the country. Let's get one thing straight. Bringing Molotov cocktails to public gatherings is not a peaceful protest.”

That's followed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in the next clip saying, “I just don't even know why there aren't uprisings in the country. Maybe there will be,” and blaming the Trump administration for conditions at the southern border next to Mexico.

The sound byte came from a press conference in 2018, when Pelosi served as a House minority leader.

The voice-over follows with, “Democrats encouraged it.”

Former Attorney General Eric Holder appears in the next snippet at an October 2018 campaign event in Georgia saying, “When they go low, we kick them. That's what this new Democratic Party is about.”

New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker, a Democrat, also says, “Get up in the face of some congresspeople,” which he said in July 2018 in the following weeks after California Rep. Maxine Waters (D) told supporters to approach and aggravate Trump administration officials.
