A new ad featuring Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., warns voters in Georgia not to give Democrats control of the U.S. Senate.
According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the 30-second was released on Wednesday and is set to air in Georgia on Thursday. Georgia has two Senate runoffs on Jan. 5.
The ad starts off with a clip of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., celebrating in the streets following the Nov. 3 election. Schumer is seen saying: “Now we take Georgia, then we change America.”
Scott then comes on camera and says: “That’s Democrat leader Chuck Schumer. You heard him. They plan to take Georgia so they can change America. Their change: reduce funding for police, eliminate employer-based health insurance, pack the Supreme Court, chip away at our religious freedom and gun rights.”
Scott closes by saying: “Georgia, don’t let these radicals change America.”
According to the newspaper, the ad will run statewide for a week.
Republican Sens. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler are attempting to hold onto their seats in Jan. 5 runoff elections against Democrat challengers Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock.
The Tampa Bay Times noted that Scott was elected unanimously by colleagues to chair the National Republican Senatorial Committee, a post that helps raise money to recruit and elect Republicans.
The new ad, however, was paid for by Scott’s political committee, Let’s Get to Work.
