Filmmaker and activist Michael Moore derided Democrats for losing a special House election in Georgia that was seen as a referendum on the Trump presidency – tweeting the party has "no message, no plan, no leaders."
His tweetstorm reference to party leaders who "hate the resistance" also appears to reflect the lingering tension between Democrats' grassroots base and its establishment elites in the wake of Hillary Clinton's election loss.
Republican Karen Handel easily won the race Tuesday for Georgia's 6th congressional district seat vacated by Dr. Tom Price, now the Trump administration's secretary of health and human services – beating Democrat Jon Ossoff.
Republicans have now won all four special elections held this year, with The Hill noting they have all taken place in traditionally Republican districts.
