Incoming House Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz has ruffled some feathers while shaking up the panel’s staff in a move seen as making a clean break from Rep. Darrell Issa’s tenure.

According to Politico, the Utah Republican has invited the entire staff to “reapply for their positions” as he attempts to put his “stamp on” the committee, reports Politico.

Chaffetz, who takes over from Issa in January, told the political news website that he’s already been interviewing people from “off the Hill and over in the Senate, and wherever they might come from.”

He said: “There’s a lot of good talent in Oversight, but some people, it was time to go, and others will get more prominent positions. It’s a good, decent large committee, and so there’s quite a bit of turnover.”

Chaffetz has already announced several of his top aides, including former Judiciary Committee aide and Podesta Group principal Sean McLaughlin and Andrew Dockham, ex-counsel to former GOP Oklahoma Sen. Tom Coburn, Politico reported.

The shake-up, which is the talk of the House, has upset long-term aides who now may have to look for another position.

Chaffetz defeated Ohio Rep. Mike Turner for the chairmanship of the committee, which is the leading investigatory panel in the House with far-reaching oversight into the federal government, Politico said.
