President Donald Trump's sometimes chaotic White House is "different" — thriving on "the drama" of rivaling intellectual opinions — "has gotten [us] to good results," former White House chief of staff Reince Priebus said Sunday.

"I think what the staff has to do is focus in on the results," Priebus told ABC's "This Week" amid continued palace intrigue with Hope Hicks' departure and reported rifts with current Chief of Staff John Kelly, displeasure on tariffs by economic adviser Gary Cohn, and shots taken by President Trump at U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

"I think what the president does — and he writes about it even in his own books — he puts rivals around him intellectually, like Wilbur Ross and Gary Cohn. He puts both those two guys in front of him and says 'OK, fight out tariffs in front of me.'

"They fight it out and the media covers the fight, but ultimately the decision is made."

Priebus, who himself was pushed out by President Trump last summer, dismissed the focus on the White House drama in lieu of the "great course" and "good results."

"If you look at the president's decisions, which I always try to have people focus on — look at the economy, look at ISIS, look at the courts — the decisions and the things President Trump has done have put him on a great course," Priebus stressed to host George Stephanopoulos. "If you're a Republican, you couldn't be happier.

"So, the drama is there, but that is how the president makes decisions. That process, while different, has gotten [us] to good results."
