Republican National Committee head Reince Priebus brushed aside tensions between Donald Trump and GOP megadonor brothers Charles and David Koch, – and their refusal so far to back the presidential nominee – saying the "bruises take time to heal."

In an interview with CBS News' "Face The Nation," Priebus said the GOP is "a big family."

"I think that some of these bruises take time to heal," he said. "I think in the end we are going to be together at the table working together once we get through this month and next month.

"I think in the end we're all going to come together."

Trump escalated tensions with the billionaire brothers Saturday, tweeting he had "turned down a meeting with Charles and David Koch" — asserting he wasn't a "puppet" — but a lawyer for Koch Industries cast doubt on the assertion.

"I don't think anyone is a puppet," Priebus said Sunday. "What Donald Trump is saying, rightfully so, is that he is unique candidate who hasn't had to rely on a lot of these special interest money."

"I don't think people that have to take money are necessarily bad, but I do think that when a person like Hillary Clinton lines her pockets with all of the groups that she then turns around and bashes… there's an air of hypocrisy," he added. "It's a fraud that she talks about special interests on one hand and then turns around and claims that she's working against it."

"The whole Clinton campaign is a fantasy land," he said.
