President-elect Donald Trump has no plans to boot FBI Director James Comey amid a Justice Department watchdog review, incoming White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus said Sunday.

In an interview on ABC News' "This Week," Priebus called the relationship between the incoming administration and Comey "great … over the last several weeks."

"He's extremely competent," Priebus said. "His term extends for some time yet. There's no plans at the moment to change the term. We find him to be extra extraordinarily competent."

The Department of Justice's Office of the Inspector General announced last Thursday it would review the actions taken by the FBI and Justice ahead of November's election in connection to the Hillary Clinton email probe.

In a separate interview on "This Week," Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders said he thought Comey "should think about stepping down."

Comey was confirmed as FBI head in 2013 for a term that lasts 10 years.
