President Donald Trump is likely looking to get rid of Attorney General Jeff Sessions, White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci said Tuesday.

Scaramucci's comments came during an interview with radio host Hugh Hewitt.

Hewitt asked Scaramucci: "It's clear the president wants him gone, isn't it, Anthony?"

Scaramucci responded: "I have an enormous amount of respect for the attorney general, but I do know the president pretty well. And if there's this level of tension in the relationship that's public, you're probably right."

And he added: "But I don't want to speak for the president on that, because (Sessions is) a Cabinet official. And I sort of think that has to be between the president of the United States and the Cabinet official."

In a Tuesday morning tweet, Trump ripped Sessions for taking a "very weak position on Hillary Clinton crimes."

And the president told The New York Times last week he would not have appointed Sessions had he known the attorney general would recuse himself from overseeing the Russia investigation. Meanwhile, Hewitt asked Scaramucci if Trump should just fire Sessions.

"Well, listen, I mean you know, I think the president has a certain style, a certain skill set," he said. "He's obviously frustrated. I said [Monday], I think, to Sarah Murray, maybe the two of them could get together. My guess is the president doesn't want to do that.

"And so I think it's going to, I think him and Jeff, or sorry, Attorney General Sessions, need to work this thing out."
