President Donald Trump's job approval rating dipped 6 points in the last month — a decline that was especially stark among independent voters, a new poll found.
The CNN survey, conducted by pollster SSRS and released Monday, showed 36 percent approve of the way Trump is handling his job, down from 42 percent in August.
Among independents, 31 percent approve, down from 47 percent last month — a new low among that voting group, CNN reported.
His previous job-approval low among independents was 32 percent in November 2017, CNN reported.
The poll’s margin of error is 3.5 percentage points.
The poll also found:
- 58 percent of Americans say the anonymous White House official who wrote an op-ed piece criticizing Trump should come forward; 55 percent said it’s inappropriate for that official to work against the president.
- 61 percent say they view Trump unfavorably, up from 55 percent in June.
- According to CNN, that number is the worst since he won the presidency. Among independents, 65 percent don’t like the job he’s doing, compared with 55 percent last month.
- 32 percent say they see the president as honest and trustworthy.
