A super PAC that backs President Donald Trump plans to accelerate its planning for the 2018 and 2020 elections as it meets this Tuesday in Texas for its first major organizational gathering, Politico reported on Sunday.

The America First Action super PAC session is to be hosted by oilman T. Boone Pickens, with Donald Trump, Jr., expected to give a presentation at the meeting.

Although the focus of the gathering is expected to be next year's midterms, many of those raising money for the group are likely to be part of the fundraising team on Trump's reelection campaign, which will also be part of the discussions.

Among the two dozen contributors attending the meeting are expected to be Republican businessmen Roy Bailey and Tommy Hicks.

An official said the super PAC and its allied nonprofit, America First Policies, has so far raised some $25 million.

The meeting is taking place as the president is scheduled to be in Dallas this Wednesday to attend a fundraiser for his reelection campaign.

Among those who have recently joined America First Action is former Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke, who is the group's senior advisor and spokesman, according to Axios.

Clarke, who hooked up with the super PAC last month after his resignation from serving Milwaukee County for the past 15 years, said "It gives me the chance to do what I love most — promote President Trump's agenda, including his fierce support for the American law enforcement officer, and ensure that the will of the American people who got President Trump elected is not derailed by the left or the self-serving Washington establishment."
