President Donald Trump on Saturday reviewed events of the past week surrounding the Russia probe investigating claims of collusion between his campaign aides during his 2016 presidential race and Russian officials, slamming the FBI and Justice Dept. for "leaking, lying and corruption at the highest levels of the FBI, Justice & State."

In tweets on Saturday, Trump addressed the announcement on Monday the House Intelligence Committee was shutting down its investigation into the matter. He also took a jab at revelations that have come about regarding government officials who had sought to undermine both his run for office and his ability to serve effectively as president.

"As the House Intelligence Committee has concluded, there was no collusion between Russia and the Trump Campaign. As many are now finding out, however, there was tremendous leaking, lying and corruption at the highest levels of the FBI, Justice & State. #DrainTheSwamp," Trump tweeted Saturday.

Trump also called out the media for its reaction to the firing of former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe. Several mainstream news agencies elicited support for the embattled former FBI official, in part because he was fired on Friday, two days before he was scheduled to begin receiving his pension as he started his scheduled retirement Sunday.

Trump also took a shot at former FBI Director James Comey, whom he fired last year shortly after taking office.

"The Fake News is beside themselves that McCabe was caught, called out and fired. How many hundreds of thousands of dollars was given to wife's campaign by Crooked H friend, Terry M, who was also under investigation? How many lies? How many leaks? Comey knew it all, and much more!" Trump tweeted.

Some of McCabe's critics have pointed to funds his wife Jill received from the super PAC of former Virginia Gov. and Hillary Clinton friend Terry McAuliffe in her failed 2015 bid to win a state Senate seat. Trump had often singled out McCabe in claims the FBI leadership was biased against him.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions fired McCabe amid reports he leaked information to reporters about FBI investigations and also lacked "candor" when speaking to Justice Department investigators.

Trump has long called the investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller a "witch hunt." The probe has yet to report any direct proof of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian officials. The House inquiry into the matter had little to show for the countless interviews with witnesses, and lawmakers announced this week they were ending their investigation.

Trump continued his attack on the Mueller probe later Saturday, slamming it again as a "witch hunt" and saying that it "never should have been started."
