President Donald Trump slammed CNN on Twitter over what he called a "vicious and purposeful mistake" in a report Friday claiming his son Donald Trump, Jr., had received access to documents WikiLeaks had acquired from the Democratic National Committee during last year's election.

"Fake News CNN made a vicious and purposeful mistake yesterday. They were caught red handed, just like lonely Brian Ross at ABC News (who should be immediately fired for his "mistake"). Watch to see if @CNN fires those responsible, or was it just gross incompetence?" Trump tweeted Saturday.

Trump has held a running feud with news agencies over what he's repeatedly called "fake news." In his Saturday tweet, the president also referenced ABC's chief investigative correspondent Brian Ross who earlier this month reported misinformation about former national security adviser Michael Flynn and allegations of collusion between Trump's 2016 presidential campaign and Russian officials.

Hours later ABC News issued a correction to the earlier report that had implicated the Trump campaign over a critical element of the continuing Russia probe over last year's presidential election.

Not only did Trump call out CNN for their mistake in reporting, the president also described the network as "the least trusted name in news" and suggested they fire "those responsible" for the errors in reporting.
