After leaked polling that showed President Donald Trump trailing former Vice President Joe Biden in key battleground states, the Trump campaign is cutting ties with leaking pollsters, according to NBC News.

Politico reports, citing an unnamed source, that three pollsters have been fired: Brett Loyd, who heads The Polling Company, founded by Trump aide Kellyanne Conway in 1995, Mike Baselice, and Adam Geller.

Tony Fabrizio and John McLaughlin were spared in the purge, according to Politico.

The polls cited in the report show Biden leading Trump in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Florida, Virginia, Maine, Minnesota, Michigan, North Carolina, Iowa, Ohio, and Georgia.

And even Texas showed President Trump up just 2 percentage points on Biden, per the report.

But, Trump 2020 campaign manager Brad Parscale disputed the poll numbers, saying the current internal campaign polls are "extraordinary" and "never been better" for the president.

"All news about the president's polling are completely false. The president's new polling is extraordinary and his numbers have never been better," Parscale told NBC News in a statement.

The campaign did not comment.

The recent controversy has sparked a new term by President Trump: "fake polling."

"The Fake News has never been more dishonest than it is today. Thank goodness we can fight back on Social Media. Their new weapon of choice is Fake Polling, sometimes referred to as Suppression Polls (they suppress the numbers). Had it in 2016, but this is worse....."

He went on in another tweet:

".....The Fake (Corrupt) News Media said they had a leak into polling done by my campaign which, by the way and despite the phony and never ending Witch Hunt, are the best numbers WE have ever had. They reported Fake numbers that they made up & don’t even exist. WE WILL WIN AGAIN!"
