A majority of America's military troops are backing Donald Trump – with career-minded forces favoring him by a 3-to-1 margin over Hillary Clinton, a Military.com poll shows.

The survey, released Wednesday, shows of more than 1,300 active-duty members of the National Guard or Reserve, 67 percent plan to vote for Trump compared with 21 percent who say they will vote for Clinton.

"I have a lot of reasons to vote for him, because I've been following him my whole career," said an Army major who asked to remain anonymous. "I know he's wacky . . . but I really think he cares about us and cares about America. Plus, there are a lot of negatives on Hillary."

Across all branches of military service, Trump had a strong majority, Military.com reported. A total of 17,149 respondents completed the questionnaire, the website reported.

A breakdown by service found Trump has the support of 74 percent of Marines and Marine Corps Reserve respondents; 68 percent of Army, Army Reserve and Army National Guard; 68 percent of Air Force, Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard; and 62 percent of Navy and Navy Reserve respondents.

He has 63 percent of just active-duty respondents; 55 percent of active duty officers are counted: He has 63 percent of that group.

Among active duty officers only:

  • 55 percent plan to support Trump.
  • 29 percent intend to vote for Clinton.

Among female troops:

  • 50 percent of active-duty, Guard and Reserve members said they'll vote for Trump.
  • 36 percent intend to vote for Clinton.

Black troops:

  • 59 percent plan to vote for Clinton.
  • 27 percent who intend to vote for Trump.

"I don't think Donald Trump has anywhere near the foreign policy experience as Sen. Clinton," one black Air Force sergeant told the outlet. "I trust her more as commander in chief, given her experience and everything else.

"I think she's more contrite. I see Donald Trump's vision being very, very partisan, very dark and very weak. I personally feel like he cares more about the Trump brand than the American people."
