More than three-quarters of Hillary Clinton's supporters say they accept Donald Trump's election as legitimate, a new poll shows.

The Gallup survey released Friday shows 76 percent of Clinton supporters accept Trump as the nation's legitimate new leader; 23 percent don't.

Nationally, 84 percent accept the president-elect as legit, while 15 percent do not, the Gallup survey shows. A full 100 percent of Trump's supporters accept him as the nation's legitimate leader.

According to Gallup, Al Gore supporters were less likely than Clinton voters to accept the president-elect; in 2000, just 68 percent said they accepted George W. Bush as the legitimate president.

The poll also found that 60 percent of Clinton supporters say the country has suffered permanent harm from the election; just 38 percent of adults nationwide agree with that, and only 17 percent of Trump supporters say that.

The poll's margin of error is plus or minus 5 percentage points.
