Democrat Andrew Gillum has gained the lead in the race for Florida governor over Republican Rep. Ron DeSantis, according to the latest poll from the University of North Florida’s Public Opinion Research Lab.
Gillum, the Mayor of Tallahassee, beat DeSantis 49 percent to 43 percent among likely voters, with 7 percent still undecided. Most voters are split down party lines, while unaffiliated voters favor Gillum 56 percent to 31 percent for DeSantis.
“Almost 3 million people have already voted, and Gillum is clearly leading in the gubernatorial race,” said Dr. Michael Binder, the lab’s faculty director.
The UNF poll surveyed 1,051 likely voters in Florida from October 23 to 26, with a margin of error of 3 percentage points.
