Fifty-one percent of likely U.S. voters now approve of President Donald Trump's job performance, while 48 percent disapprove, a new Rasmussen Reports daily presidential tracking poll reveals.

It is Trump's best overall job approval rating since April 2017, according to the poll. By comparison, President Barack Obama had a 46 percent job approval on April 4, 2010 in his second year in office.

Figures provided by Rasmussen show that Trump's 51 percent approval on Wednesday was an increase over the 49 percent he had achieved the day before.

Since January 1, he has managed to hit 50 percent three different times, but not go over.  His lowest approval was 42 percent so far in 2018.

The poll surveyed 1,500 likely voters. The margin of error is plus or minus 2.5 percentage points.
