Planned Parenthood’s political arm intends to spend $45 million to defeat President Donald Trump and Republicans in the 2020 election, reports CNN.
The funds will go toward "large-scale grassroots organizing programs and targeted canvass, digital, television, radio and mail programs," according to a press release.
Planned Parenthood is the nation’s largest abortion provider. Its political wing fights for legal protections for abortion, birth control, sex education and more.
“Planned Parenthood Votes and Planned Parenthood advocacy and political organizations are launching their largest-ever electoral effort for the 2020 cycle. We'll fight for our rights and freedoms down the ballot in 2020,” the organization tweeted Wednesday.
The group says its top priority is to unseat Trump. Other priorities include helping Democrats take control of the Senate, now led by Republicans, and to hold on to the Democratic majority in the House of Representatives.
"Who we elect will determine our access to birth control, cancer screenings, sex education, abortion access and more," said Kelley Robinson, executive director of Planned Parenthood Votes, in a statement.
The group will target roughly 5 million voters across the country, with a specific focus on nine key swing states: Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
