Fifty-one percent of voters in Pennsylvania’s newly drawn 17th Congressional District favor Democratic Rep. Conor Lamb, while his Republican opponent, Rep. Keith Rothfus, is favored by 39 percent, according to a new Monmouth University poll.
A recent ruling for the Pennsylvania Supreme Court created the district and puts the two incumbents against one another.
Here are some other highlights from the poll:
- 31 percent have a favorable opinion of Rothfus, while 23 percent were unfavorable. 46 percent had no opinion
- 44 percent had a favorable view of Lamb, compared to 17 percent who had an unfavorable opinion of him. 39 percent had no opinion
- 44 percent approved of the job Donald Trump is doing as president, while 51 percent disapproved
The poll, conducted July 19-22, surveyed 401 potential voters in the congressional district. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.9 percentage points.
