Left-wing groups want to make Republicans pay for supporting deficit reduction Paul Ryan-style. They are going after House Budget Committee Chairman Ryan and congressmen who support his budget plan,
Politico reports.
Americans United for Change has launched attack ads in the districts of rookie GOP Reps. Sean Duffy, Wis., and Chip Cravaack, Minn., in addition to Iowa conservative Steve King and Ryan himself in Wisconsin.
“Paul Ryan looks like a nice young man,” says a female senior citizen who narrates the ad. “But on April 15 he voted to end Medicare and its guaranteed health benefits.”
Some groups are launching phone campaigns. But the effort hasn’t gained traction like the Republican tea party movement did in the summer of 2009.
