House Speaker Paul Ryan has joined a chorus of critics regarding Donald Trump's comments about the judge presiding over the Trump University case.
"Look, the comment about the judge the other day just was out of left field for my mind," Ryan said in an interview on WISN's "Up Front with Vicki McKenna."
"It's reasoning I don't relate to. I completely disagree with the thinking behind that."
Ryan was referring to Trump's remarks about U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel this week, calling out his "Mexican heritage"
and saying he has "an absolute conflict" in the class-action case whose trial is slated for after the presidential election.
Ryan, who represents Wisconsin's first district, endorsed Trump for president in a Wall Street Journal op-ed Thursday
. He told WISN he doesn't see eye-to-eye with Trump on everything.
"He clearly says and does things I don't agree with," Ryan told Vicki McKenna. "And I've had to speak up on time to time when that has occurred, and I'll continue to do that if that's necessary. I hope it's not."
Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly said on her show Thursday night Trump's comments were "out of line."
