Some of the students who survived the Parkland, Florida shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School are planning a campaign focusing on registering voters as the midterm elections approach, Axios reported.

The students aim to use their social media influence, especially on Twitter, to get more voters registered, Axios reports.

Jaclyn Corin, the student president of the incoming senior class, said it would take a “cultural shift” before a change could happen in gun laws nationwide.

The student organizers’ strategy involves turning nonvoters into voters, not changing current voters’ minds, according to Axios.

However, according to The Washington Post, registration of voters ages 18 to 29 has not budged from the average amount before the Feb. 14 Parkland shooting where 17 students and teachers were killed.
