Palin: Cruz One of the 'Good Guys'

By    |   Wednesday, 25 September 2013 12:18 PM EDT

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is backing Texas Sen. Ted Cruz’s marathon talk on the Senate floor in opposition to Obamacare, suggesting he may be part of an emerging third party in American politics.

"I dare say we already have a third party. We have the liberal party, the GOP machine, and then we’ve got the good guys," Palin told Neil Cavuto on Fox News Tuesday, adding, "That is the third party. Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Rand Paul . . . Those are the players in the party whom I will support."

The 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee blasted GOP legislators who are not supporting Cruz’s move to defund the provisions of th Affordable Care Act, asking, "Am I surprised that RINOs would turn on one who would stand strong on [conservative] planks? No, because some of us have lived through that."

"I’ve always been very, very independent. Up here in Alaska, it’s why I’m not in the good graces of the Alaskan political party when it comes to Republican machinery," she added.

Palin also used Cruz’s talk-a-thon to take a dig at the Democratic leadership. Speaking on Fox News’ "Hannity" Tuesday night, she said, "Hey, you know if Ted Cruz runs out of material there to speak of in this filibuster of his he can always just read the Obamacare bill itself, because I bet you no one else there on the Senate floor has actually read it."

"If he would read it though," she continued, "then perhaps Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., she’d be watching the C-SPAN station there and she’d be able to say, 'Oh, that is what is in it.'"

Meanwhile, Palin took to Twitter to show her support for Cruz as he spoke, tweeting:
