Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, will likely vote in favor of releasing the transcript of a Senate interview with the researcher who compiled the Trump dossier, The Daily Caller reported Tuesday.

He's the second Republican to say he'll vote to release it, joining Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa.

Glenn Simpson, the co-founder of Fusion GPS, spoke with staff on the Senate Judiciary Committee last Tuesday for more than 10 hours. His private research firm was initially paid about a million dollars by wealthy Republicans to do research on President Donald Trump, and Democrats later asked him to dig up dirt on the then-Republican presidential nominee.

His interview reportedly contains new information about the dossier, which contains salacious allegations about Trump that haven't been verified, and was authored by British spy Christopher Steele during the presidential campaign.

The Senate Judiciary Committee will vote on whether to release the transcripts of the closed hearing, the Washington Examiner reported last week.

"Sen. Hatch, like Chairman Grassley, believes we should make as much public as possible, and as soon as we can," Matt Whitlock, a spokesman for Hatch, told the Daily Caller. "Barring additional and unexpected developments (such as, for example, a new, bonafide assertion of privilege or the unanticipated discovery of a need for additional interviewing to provide greater context before release), he would vote in favor."
