Jim Jordan: 'Good Meeting' With Trump, But Not Sold on AHCA

CNN's "OutFront"

Rep. Jim Jordan said Thursday conservative Republicans had a "good meeting" with President Donald Trump about the party's healthcare plan — but the proposal will not repeal Obamacare.

"We want to help the president do what we told the voters we were going to do, what we all told the voters we would do," the Ohio congressman told Erin Burnett on CNN. "We told them we would repeal Obamacare.

"This bill that was brought forward was not that. It says we're going to keep Medicaid expansion — and we're going to extend it.

"It says we're going to repeal Obamacare but keep tax increases," he said. "That is not what we told the voters we'll do.

"Let's repeal it all."

Jordan said the House bill he introduced Wednesday would repeal the Affordable Care Act outright.

"It was the same legislation that every Republican voted on just a little over a year ago that we put on President [Barack] Obama's desk.

"Let's pass that. Let's get rid of Obamacare, which has been a disaster."

Repealing the healthcare law is crucial to gaining the trust of voters, Jordan told Burnett.

"That is exactly what the voters hate: They hate politicians who say one thing at election time, vote one way, and then when it's time to actually get the job done, say, 'No, we can't do it now,'" Jordan said.

"It's all different now.

"If we can make it better, I agree on that," he added. "But let's do what we told them we would do, what we all voted on before.

"Let's do exactly that, not play this game that politicians play," Jordan said. "That's not what they sent us here to do."
