Obama: We Screwed Up in 2008 Campaign

By    |   Friday, 02 March 2012 11:42 AM

President Barack Obama appears to be lowering expectations among fundraisers and loyalists as he sets out on his 2012 re-election bid.
Yesterday, at a New York City fundraiser, Obama said his 2008 campaign was not as flawless as political watchers have said.

“People remember that campaign as being flawless and so much fun. I don't remember it that way . . . I remember us screwing up all the time," The Hill reports.

He didn’t offer any specifics, but did offer a defense of his policies amid the nation’s troubles during the fundraiser.

Obama’s approval numbers have dropped to all-time lows in recent months as the nation’s unemployment, housing, and economic numbers stagnate. And while there have been signs that, in small increments, the nation’s economy is slowly improving, his few successes are tenuous at best.

Obama was mindful of that Thursday, adding "there's still a lot of hardship" weighing on Americans, but said "the trend lines are good."
