Rock-and-Roller Ted Nugent Mulls Presidential Bid

Rock-and-Roller Ted Nugent Mulls Presidential Bid

Wednesday, 03 July 2013 03:23 PM EDT

Rock-and-roll star and staunch conservative Ted Nugent is contemplating running for president.

"Things are just so wrong in the country now," he told The Washington Post Magazine.  "And I know that my answers would make things wonderful, unless you just refuse to produce. And then I’d recommend that you move to Canada — or Illinois."

Nugent already has an idea for a campaign slogan. "Hi, I’m Ted Nugent. I have nine children from seven women, and I’m running for president."

The avid gun advocate has contemplated running for political office before, considering campaigns for governor of Michigan in 2006 and 2010.

Urgent: Support Obama's Gun Ban Plan? Vote in Poll

Nugent was a guest of Rep. Steve Stockman, R-Tex., at President Barack Obama's State of the Union address in February. Less than a year earlier, Nugent received a call from the Secret Service after proclaiming he would "be dead or in jail" if Obama won re-election.

Nugent is a columnist for Newsmax. In his latest piece, published June 6, the rocker said that is a date "that all Americans should study, know and remember. It is as important as July 4th." That's because U.S. and allied forces invaded Normandy that day in 1944, during World War II.
