Hollywood Democrats Consider Hillary Alternatives

Hillary Clinton's latest controversy of using a private email account on a personal server while secretary of state has some Hollywood Democrats worried about her presidential campaign and looking for someone else, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Longtime producer Norman Lear told the Reporter that if Clinton doesn't run, he'll support Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

"I think Elizabeth would make a great president," Lear said.

Warren is a favorite of those further left in the party, and her supporters in the entertainment industry are "numerous and passionate," the Reporter said. Warren supporters include Mark Ruffalo, Edward Norton, Susan Sarandon, Matt Bomer and Darren Aronofsky.

Warren has repeatedly insisted she will not run for president, but is being pressured by liberal groups to do so. MoveOn.org has set up "Run Warren Run" events on LA's Westside, according to the Reporter.

Industry insiders also like New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and former Maryland governor and Baltimore Mayor Martin O'Malley.

The email controversy has drawn the ire even of Democrats, with California Sen. Dianne Feinstein telling ""Meet the Press" on Sunday that Clinton must answer for why she used a private server that she controls. Clinton on Tuesday answered questions from reporters on the issue, but some on the left weren't satisfied, including the website Gawker.

Clinton also suffers from her ties to President Barack Obama. Some who lean more conservative in Hollywood don't think Obama has done enough to protect Israel. Those on the left believe Obama has been too aligned with Wall Street and think his national security policies reflect those of George W. Bush.

Both camps fear more of the same from a Hillary Clinton presidency.

That said, most Democrats are sticking with Clinton, the Reporter said, including DreamWorks Animation's Jeffrey Katzenberg and Fox film head Jim Gianopulos.

"She'd make a great president," Gianopulos said. "It's about time we had a woman who's president as well, but that's not her qualification. Her qualifications speak for themselves. She's certainly very capable of it."
