No Labels party founding chair Joe Lieberman said Thursday that the organization could announce its bipartisan unity presidential ticket as soon as next week.
Lieberman, former Democrat-turned-independent U.S. senator from Connecticut (1989-2013) and vice presidential candidate to Al Gore in 2000, said in an interview that the ticket could be unveiled as soon as March 21.
"We're ready," Lieberman told CNN. "So we're not going to announce candidates today. But we do announce that we're going to announce candidates this spring, and that could be as early as ... March 21."
Lieberman's comments come one week after No Labels announced that it would move forward with a 2024 presidential ticket after a meeting with its 800 delegates from all 50 states.
"They voted near unanimously to continue our 2024 project and to move immediately to identify candidates to serve on the Unity presidential ticket," No Labels national convention chair Mike Rawlings said March 8.
Now that it is officially a Donald Trump versus Joe Biden rematch, Lieberman said, "it's decision time to find the best bipartisan unity ticket we can give the American people as the third choice they say they want overwhelmingly because they don't want to have to choose again between Trump and Biden."
