Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich predicted Monday that Republicans will pick up seats in the Senate, while possibly losing control of the House.
“I believe we will keep the Senate,” he said. “We will gain seats in the Senate. But he added: “I think there is a possibility the Democrats will win the House.”
His comments came during an interview on television’s “Fox & Friends.”
“My sense is that the (Brett) Kavanaugh fight galvanized conservatives and Independents – reminded them how radical and how dishonest the Democrats are,” he said.
Gingrich singled out the race in Texas between Republican Sen. Ted Cruz and his Democratic challenger Beto O’Rourke.
“It is very clear that the Beto O’Rourke mythology is disappearing,” he said. “He’s becoming, as Ted Cruz said the other day, ‘Comrade Beto.’ and it’s clear that Texas is, once again, going to be a be a very, very Republican state.”
Former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer said on Friday that if conservatives don’t turn out in large numbers for the midterm election, Republicans are in trouble.
“If conservatives sit at home, Republicans are dead in the water,” he said
