The push to recall California Gov. Gavin Newsom is a bipartisan effort, with one-third of those who signed petitions against him being Democrats and third-party voters, Randy Economy, the senior adviser for the recall effort, said Wednesday.

"All of us together, we overcame every odd possible to be able to do this," Economy told Fox News' "Fox and Friends." "Now we will have a historic campaign and election and we will get a new governor out of this. This is what is absolutely historic. It's not to be taken lightly."

As of Monday, California has verified more than enough petition signatures needed to recall the Democrat governor, bringing the state closer to an election later this year that is expected to attract a wide slate of candidates hoping to replace him.

More than 1.6 million names have been certified, passing the 1.5 million threshold that is needed to qualify for a ballot, according to Secretary of State Shirley Weber.

County officials have until Thursday to certify the remaining signatures, and then there will be a 30-day period to allow voters signing the petition to remove their names.

Weber said a recall election will be held unless "a sufficient number of signatures are removed."

Economy said Wednesday he hopes that the recall effort will inspire other Americans who are not happy with their states' leaders.

"I think we want to inspire every single state in America and people to know that they are in charge of their governments," he said. "The politicians are not in charge of their governments. Politics, as we know it here in California, is over."

Angela Morrison, the owner of the Pineapple Hill Grill and Saloon in Los Angeles, whose video went viral after her restaurant's outdoor dining was shut down while a TV program's catering tent was allowed to stay open next door, said Wednesday she's elated by the news on the signature campaign.

"It is the most freeing feeling in the world when you wake up to this and you are able to go out and you are able to fight for what you believe in and stand up for yourself and not allow a bully to push you around," Morrison told Fox News. "A lot of us feel that way. Like our vote doesn't count and we can't do anything. But we can. This is America. And it's amazing. It's just like I hope more people get off that couch, you know, and go out and vote. And take this election very, very seriously."

Meanwhile, Economy said several candidates are lining up already, and more will "come out of the woodwork now, and that's great."

"If it wasn't for the hard work that we did as the campaign, none of this would be possible," he said. "Again, this has not been a Republican movement. It's not been a Democratic movement. It's been a California movement. And it's historical and we have woken up the big bear, the big huge bear, the grizzly bear of California has been poked. We have been poked and poked and poked by this governor. And by the system. And you know, we can't live in a one-party state forever. And I think those days are going to be over with and thank goodness we have gotten to this point. I'm so excited."
