Donald Trump's presidential campaign is reportedly pointing fingers as it tries to figure out who is responsible for parts of Melania Trump's Monday night speech that were allegedly plagiarized.

NBC News' Katy Tur cites campaign sources that said Melania initially did not want to speak at the convention. She hasn't spoken much on the campaign trail, although she has done some long interviews — such as with Greta Van Susteren in March.

The campaign had its "best person" working with Trump on the speech," Tur said, in order to have her "outshine everybody" on the convention's opening night.

Mediaite captured video of Tur's report.

Tur said campaign sources indicated the campaign is in the midst of a "save-my-marriage moment" because of two passages that seem to have been lifted from a speech given by Michelle Obama at the 2008 Democrat National Convention.

She added that someone's "head is gonna roll" because of the controversy.

Publicly, the Trump campaign is saying there was no plagiarizing involved in preparing Trump's speech. Campaign chairman Paul Manafort said the controversy smells like something Hillary Clinton would cook up.

RNC Chief Reince Priebus said it would be "reasonable" to fire Trump's speechwriter if it turns out the passages were taken from Obama's speech.
