NARAL Pro-Choice America President Ilyse Hogue has taken a step closer to throwing her hat into the ring for Democratic National Committee chair by sending out an email Monday to DNC members explaining her vision for the party, Politico reported.

"I believe the DNC has a critical role to play in regrouping after 2016, one that fully embraces the [Paul] Wellstone triad approach to change: Public policy that reflects peoples' needs, grassroots organizing that honors peoples' lived experience, and an electoral strategy that brings both to bear to ensure victory," Hogue wrote in the email.

"The DNC can be not just a force every two years at election time, but also a daily presence in peoples' lives, relevant in policy discussions and responsive to ideas and concerns of people where they live."

The election to succeed interim-DNC chairwoman Donna Brazile is expected to take place in February.

The Hill reported Hogue is the only woman among those who have declared their candidacy or are considering running for the post.

Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., South Carolina Democratic Party chairman Jaime Harrison, and former Gov. Howard Dean, D-Vt., who has previously been DNC chairman, have already announced they are running for the position, while others are still considering.

In her email, Hogue, who is a top Hillary Clinton surrogate, tried to appeal to all factions in the party, saying, "Diversity is our strength and must be our aspiration and our future."

She expressed her support for one of Sen. Bernie Sander's, I-Vt., main proposals, the elimination of the superdelegate system.

Hogue said fighting Trump's agenda has to unify the party and be its top priority, criticizing the president-elect in the sharpest terms.

"Through their appointments, statements, and associations, the Trump Administration has already proven our worst fears about their racist, corrupt, chaotic, and damaging agenda to be true, even before they arrive at the White House," Hogue wrote in the email.

"They will seek to divide people against each other attacking our sisters and brothers across America."
