Vice President Mike Pence Thursday said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's continued refusal to send the House-passed articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump to the Senate exposes "what frankly a sham process this has been."

"The American people can read the transcript," Pence told Fox News' Brian Kilmeade on "Fox and Friends," referring to the White House's record of the telephone call between Trump and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. "They can see the president did nothing wrong. There was no quid pro quo. Ukraine received all the military aid."

The time has come, he added, for the Senate to take action to take the matter up and "acquit the president and move on to the important business facing the American people, a stronger, more prosperous America."

He said the White House will continue to "focus on that" and "demand that the Congress do the same."

Pence also questioned the urgency Pelosi and other Democrats claimed when pushing through the impeachment investigation to a vote before the holiday break.

"I don't know how many times we heard the word urgent from the Democratic leadership in the House as they rammed through their sham investigation, where the White House wasn't allowed to have counsel present, wasn't allowed to call witnesses," said Pence. "Then they passed a partisan impeachment vote out of the House of Representatives and Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been sitting on it for a month. So where's the urgency?"

Democrats also are starting to demand action on the articles of impeachment, Pence pointed out.

"Now you even have Sen. Dianne Feinstein saying if it's urgent, send it," he said. "If it's not, don't."

He also called for the Senate to move forward with a vote on the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, as it is a "huge win" for American farmers and workers, while the House "dithers with their partisan impeachment."
