Acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney doubled-down on criticism of special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation as an effort to “undo what the voters did in 2016.”

In an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Mulvaney lashed out at House Intelligence Committee chairman Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., for asserting there’s evidence of collusion contrary to a summary of the Mueller report by Attorney General William Barr.

Members of Congress, even if they are the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, don't get to substitute their judgment for the voters,” he said. “And that is what this is all about at the end of the day. That's what the Mueller report was about. That's what you're seeing now on the Hill. It's about trying to figure out how to undo what the voters did in 2016. That's where I think people have had enough.”

Mulvaney added that voters can “take the president at his word” as to whether the Mueller report should be released — but said “it is time to… work on policy.”

“Face it, the media got this wrong. It's okay. People get stuff wrong all the time, just not at this level. It's done now.,” he said.

He also defended the Trump administration’s joining in a case that asks a federal appeals court to strike down the entire healthcare law.

Obamacare does not work. Even the Democrats admit that now,” he said, adding: "There were tens of millions of people who were paying a fine, paying a fee rather than take Obamacare. That's people telling you it doesn't work. They know it. We know it.”

He said the White House plans to roll a replacement plan just like it did with a tax cut bill.

“We're doing the same thing with this that we did with taxes,” he said. “People criticized us for not giving enough detail. We sent principles to the Hill. From that, following the proper legislative progress we had a tremendous tax bill that passed into law, also got rid of the individual mandate at that time as an added benefit. We're going to do the same thing on health care.”
