Where are all the men in President Donald Trump's inner circle? Mika Brzezinski, co-host of "Morning Joe," says there aren't any.
The MSNBC personality said that's particularly so after this week's cabinet meeting during which each of the president's team lavishly praised his leadership and gushed how it was an honor to work with him.
"If the president seems delusional about his accomplishments, you can point no further than that room that is helping confirm this sort of sense of total exaggerated self that he has," Brzezinski said.
"Let me just say, there are no real men in the inner circle of the White House. None at all."
Brzezinski's co-host Joe Scarborough, who was equally critical of the cabinet meeting, said:
"Everybody around that table … they do not serve Donald Trump. They serve the people of the United States of America. They do not take an oath to Donald Trump, they take an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America. And if they don't understand that, they need to leave."
On Monday, Trump convened the first full meeting of his cabinet since his inauguration and boasted that he has achieved "tremendous success" at a "record-setting pace." He added that with the exception of Franklin Roosevelt, "never has there been a president who's passed more legislation, who's done more things than we've done."
Trump's self-praise was followed by kudos from his cabinet, including White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, who fawned: "On behalf of the entire senior staff around you, Mr. President, we thank you for the opportunity and the blessing that you've given us to serve your agenda and the American people."
The bizarre powwow triggered Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer to mock it by filming a fake meeting of his own and posting it on Twitter.
Schumer started by asking an aide how "we" did on a Sunday news show and asked another how his hair looked coming out of the gym that morning.
One of his staffers then interjects, "Before we go any further, I just want to say thank you for the opportunity and blessing to serve your agenda."
That sets Schumer and his staff into hysterics.
