Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin on Sunday dismissed reports that President Donald Trump tried to dig up dirt on Joe Biden in a call to Ukraine’s president, saying Biden’s son’s business dealings in Ukraine are more worrisome.

In an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Mnuchin said “I think things are being implied though don't exist.”

A whistleblower complaint filed last week reportedly includes information that Trump asked Ukrainian officials to investigate Biden. Trump denies it; the White House won’t release a copy of the complaint or transcript of the call.

“I don't expect there were any issues whatsoever” in Trump’s phone call to Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelensky, Mnuchin said, pivoting quickly to Biden’s son, Hunter, who sat on the board of a private Ukrainian gas company, Burisma Group.

“These are confidential discussions between two foreign leaders but I think the bigger issue is Biden came out this weekend saying he never had any discussions with his son,” Mnuchin said.

“His son came out and said he had had business discussions with his father. So I think that the real issue is not what the president said, but what, indeed, did Biden's son do.”

Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani has previously raised questions about whether Biden, as vice president, pushed for the ouster of former Ukrainian prosecutor general Viktor Shokin, who had investigated Burisma.
