A longtime Missouri Republican says Donald Trump may be in "big trouble" if a group of his longtime "dyed in the wool" GOP friends are on the money.

Steve Rose writes in the Kansas City Star that only two members of his breakfast group of six business professionals — some who've served as precinct committeemen or as fundraisers — plan to vote for the presumptive Republican presidential nominee.

And one of them says he'll be "holding his nose."

"Consider this: These were all males, supposedly Trump's strength, and he lost four out of six Republicans. One can only imagine the vote had the group been all Republican females," Rose writes.

"On the other hand, Trump has picked up independents and Democrats in open primaries, so he is surely hoping to attract those same groups in the general election. But can he win enough to offset defections from his own party? I doubt it. A rout may be in the making."

He adds Trump may even have problems in the red-state of Kansas where the last Republican to lose in a presidential race was Barry Goldwater, who was trounced by Lyndon Johnson.
