Vice President Mike Pence's political action committee donated to 30 vulnerable House Republicans, but did not give a cent to Rep. Carlos Curbelo, R-Fla., Politico is reporting.

And Curbelo arguably needs it the most, the website added.

Curbelo's Miami-based district went for Hillary Clinton over President Donald Trump by 16 percentage points. And while Pence's Great America Committee did not to contribute to Curbelo's campaign, it may not hurt the congressman in his district, Politico noted.

"It's probably a badge of honor that Carlos is not being favored by what's going to be the old Republican Party very quickly," said Juan Carlos Planas, a Republican election-law attorney. "Carlos Curbelo represents the future of this party. And that future is not Trump. I spend time around young 20-something Republicans and independents, and they're like Curbelo."

Curbelo has criticized Trump in the past and was the first GOP lawmaker in Congress to suggest the president could be impeached, Politico noted.

His main Democratic opponent, Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, had $316,000 in campaign funds banked at the end of the last quarter, according to Politico. Curbelo had nearly $1.7 million cash on hand, the website reported.

But Democrats say Curbelo remains a target this year, the website noted.

"Carlos Curbelo is only anti-Trump when it's politically convenient," said Juan Peñalosa, Florida Democratic Party executive director. "While he may make empty promises in South Florida, his voting record in Washington is decidedly pro-Trump."

Meanwhile, the political arm of the congressional Hispanic Caucus has thrown its support behind his Democratic challenger, the Miami Herald reported.

Curbelo had tried to join the caucus in 2017, but his membership was denied, the newspaper noted.
