Vice President Mike Pence was told about a Justice Department warning concerning former national security adviser Michael Flynn 15 days after the White House and the president knew, NBC News reported.

Citing two unnamed sources, the broadcast news outlet said Pence was informed of the warning about Flynn's calls to a Russian diplomat late Feb. 9. President Donald Trump was first told almost three weeks ago, a White House spokesman said Tuesday.

It was reported Monday the Justice Department, led by then-Acting Attorney General Sally Yates, told the White House last month Flynn was not entirely forthcoming about his calls with the Russian ambassador to the United States – or their substance — opening up Flynn to the possibility of being blackmailed by the Kremlin.

Flynn resigned later Monday.

His calls with the Russian ambassador were first reported by The Washington Post.

Flynn has been replaced by retired Army Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg as acting national security adviser.
