The resignation of Mike Dubke as White House communications director comes as President Donald Trump is considering a major personnel shakeup, Politico reported.

Trump is looking at staff changes as he confronts investigations into possible ties between his presidential campaign and the Russian government, the website said.

Among the changes reportedly being considered:

  • White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer is expected to have a reduced public role, according to Politico
  • Former campaign aides Corey Lewandowski and David Bossie could take on more formal roles, including crisis management, Politico reported.
  • There already have been discussions about naming Chief of Staff Reince Priebus as ambassador to Greece, The Washington Post noted.
  • David Urban, a prominent GOP lobbyist, is being eyed as a possible replacement for Priebus, according to Axios. Urban was a senior adviser for the Trump campaign, according to the website.

Other changes are being planned for the White House as officials discuss how to deal with the investigations and still get Trump’s message out, Axios said.

Trump is looking at traveling more — perhaps once a week — and will do more of the talking, the website said.

"He says things exactly the way he wants them to be said," one official said.
