Entrepreneur Andrew Yang was pitched by Mike Bloomberg's campaign as his potential running mate, reports The Wall Street Journal.

Bloomberg, the ex-NYC Mayor, was also reportedly seeking Yang's endorsement as he seeks the Democratic nomination, according to a person familiar with the discussions.

But Yang, who dropped out of the race earlier this month, turned down Bloomberg's offer as he was mulling his own political future, the paper reported.

Yang was skeptical when Bloomberg entered the race in November.

"It's going to be very, very difficult for him to jump in right now and somehow replace the thousands of conversations many of the candidates have had with voters in New Hampshire and Iowa and around the country with ad buys," Yang said then.

"There are limits to what money can do."

A senior Bloomberg aide told the paper, Yang was not seriously being considered to join him on the ticket should he win the nomination.

Yang struggled in the polls and dropped out after a poor finish in Iowa.
