President Donald Trump warned the migrant caravan that is traveling to the United States from Mexico, if they reach the U.S. border, they will not get very far.
Trump told Fox News host Laura Ingraham on Monday the migrants who claim asylum will be held in tent cities until their cases are heard — a process that often takes years.
"When they are captured, we don't let them out," Trump said. "We're not letting them out . . . We're catching, we're not releasing . . . We're not letting them into this country.
"We're going to put tents up all over the place. We're not going to build structures and spend . . . hundreds of millions of dollars. We're going to have tents, they're going to be very nice, and they're going to wait, and if they don't get asylum, they get out."
Thousands of people from Central America have been making their way north, with the goal of walking into the U.S. The Trump administration is sending more than 5,000 active duty troops to shore up the border for when the migrants arrive.
