U.S. Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney "absolutely" believes Congress can get a tax reform bill to President Donald Trump's desk in December, telling The Hill it was a "big deal" the Senate voted to pass a budget which will allow future passage of tax reform without Democrats filibustering.

"We felt good last week, but not only did the Senate then pass the bill, we're hearing now that the House may go ahead and take the Senate amendments or move very quickly to accept the Senate amendments, and we may save as many as 10 or 12 legislative days," Mulvaney told The Hill.

"If the House really does take the Senate budget . . . it absolutely moves the ball a lot further, a lot quicker toward that goal."

It is notable conservative members of the House, which had sought billions of dollars in cuts from the Senate proposal came out this weekend to support a swift passage in the House, where Republicans hold a much wider majority. Proponents of the Senate package include House Budget Committee head Rep. Diane Black, R-Tenn., Freedom Caucus member Rep. Dave Brat, R-Va., and Heritage Action Vice President Dan Holler.

"I will vote for the Senate budget and while I applaud the work that Chairman Black did in our budget committee to begin the process of mandatory spending reforms, at this point, achieving economic growth is the first priority and so I want to keep that train moving," Rep. Brat told The Hill. "We don't want it dragging on forever, like health care did. That's when the swamp gets involved, and that's not good for the middle class."
