Florida Republicans are closing the gap for voters by showing up for early voting or "absolutely" planning to show up on Election Day, Rep. Michael Waltz said Tuesday.

"Every day that goes by, we are taking huge chunks out of the Democrats' vote-by-mail lead," the Florida Republican said on Fox News' "Fox & Friends." "That red wave is showing up with the early voting and absolutely is going to show up on Election Day."

According to the U.S. Election Project, a total of 6,427,773 have cast their ballots in Florida. Of those, 41.8% are registered Democrats, 37.1% are registered Republicans, and 19.9% said they have no party affiliation.

Republicans far outnumber Democrats in in-person voting, 46% to 34%, but Democrats outnumber Republicans in the numbers of absentee ballots returned, 47% to 31%, the website reports.

Waltz, however, said he thinks Democrats may regret shifting so many of their voters into casting mailed-in ballots earlier.

"They may be robbing from their day of just cannibalizing that day of voting and pushing it into the vote by mail," said Waltz, adding that there is always a greater risk of first-time voters making errors on their ballots.

"If you are hovering at around 5% to 8% of rejected ballots where people make mistakes, that could be the difference," he said.

Waltz also commented on a New York Post report that Americans are asking Google how they can change their votes after the Hunter Biden scandal surfaced. President Donald Trump also pointed to the idea of changing votes in a tweet Tuesday.

"You can change your mind. If it's legal in your state and you want to change your mind," said Waltz. "It's not in Florida, but it is in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota. This Hunter Biden thing this is not about Hunter. This is Joe Biden and a family enterprise."
