Rep. Michael Conaway, R-Texas, defended the House Intelligence Committee's investigative actions regarding the Russia probe Tuesday after one of his Democratic colleagues accused Republicans of trying to race through the probe.

Conaway spoke with Politico the day after Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., wrote an opinion piece in The Wall Street Journal that criticized Republicans' tactics on the panel as they try to determine whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russia.

"The investigation is not over. We're moving forward aggressively," Conaway said.

Schiff wrote that the GOP members of the House Intelligence Committee have "repeatedly flouted investigative best practices — rushing in witnesses before we have documents, scheduling others out of state while we are in session and cannot attend, and refusing to bring in dozens of others, and with no witnesses scheduled after Dec. 31."

Conaway told Politico, "I've listened to [Democrats'] comments and listened to their questions. Sometimes I agree with them, sometimes I disagree with them. We're going to have those kind of natural disagreements among professionals."

There are multiple Russia investigations ongoing, including in the House and Senate Intelligence Committees and the Department of Justice.

President Donald Trump is hopeful that the DOJ probe, headed by special counsel Robert Mueller, will end soon. A report Monday, however, claimed the investigation could last another year.
