Rep. Mia Love's name has come up as one of Donald Trump's potential running mates, but the Utah Republican said Friday she's planning to skip the party's convention in Cleveland altogether.

"I don't see any upsides to it," Love told The Salt Lake Tribune Friday. "I don't see how this benefits the state..."Being thoughtful and taking my time and not blindly following is representing my district well."

At this point, Love is the only member of Utah's 40-person delegation who plans to sit out the convention, but others, like Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox, are considering staying home.

"I have not been supportive of Mr. Trump, and I'm not really excited to go back to a convention that's centered around him," Cox told the newspaper in May. "There's a chance I don't go."

Love would not comment on whether she plans to vote for Trump in November, but said she will not be voting for presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. She also dismissed the talk becoming Trump's running mate.

She told the newspaper she has never met or spoken with Trump, and does not know if her campaign has any relationship with his.

"I'm endeared and close to the people I represent, and I'm not going to abandon them," said the first-term congresswoman. "I've just gotten started, and there's a lot of work to do."

Her name came up in a Fox News Interview Friday, when former Trump aide Michael Caputo claimed that the campaigns have a relationship and that "people are looking at her," as she is "an African-American leader with really bright ideas and an ability to communicate."

Love had backed Florida Sen. Marco Rubio earlier in the primaries, and ran as a national delegate while Florida Sen. Ted Cruz was still in the race.
