Meghan McCain, Fox News host and commentator, and daughter of Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., slammed Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton over her choice of staff and recent revelations from leaked emails on "Outnumbered" Wednesday.
"I was really fascinated by the insight into the relationship between Hillary Clinton and her staff," McCain said of the leaked emails. "It is quite obvious she surrounds herself with yes-men and yes-women that will never call her out on things that are illegal. One of the quotes is that 'we're just trying to avoid subpoenas.' I actually think that is very dangerous for a leader who is going to become president. You have to make hard decisions, and if you're only surrounded by people that will kiss your you-know-what instead of give it to you straight then that's a problem. The other thing is, like all Clinton scandals, she's only sorry when she's caught. Clinton's are only sorry when they're caught, they're never sorry when they're doing something illegal."
Later in the conversation, Democratic strategist Julie Roginsky defended Clinton's staff.
"When I worked in the Senate, I worked alongside Hillary Clinton as senator. She had an incredible staff that I think is really second to none. She picks good people," Roginsky said.
McCain scoffed at Roginsky's remark, saying "that is ridiculous. She does not keep good people around her.
"That's just a total fallacy, look what they helped get her into," she continued. "As you said there are people around her, whether they are friends of hers at the very least, saying don't do this, don't do these things that are illegal. As I said, she surrounds herself with yes-men and women."
"Enablers," she said in agreement with Guy Benson.
"I think it's intellectually disingenuous to say that Hillary Clinton surrounds herself with the best staffers," McCain added later, "when we're using example after example after example about how her and her entire team — let me tell you something, people that work for my father don't believe that we're all above the law, and clearly staffers that work for Hillary Clinton believe not only she but her entire team are immune from living and working by the same set of laws and standards."
The conversation later turned to President Barack Obama's knowledge of Clinton's private email server, with McCain claiming he must have known.
White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest denied that Obama knew the nature of Clinton's email server.
"The point that the president was making is not that he didn't know Secretary Clinton's email address — he did — but he was not aware of the details of how that email address and server had been set up, or how Secretary Clinton and her team were planning to comply with the Federal Records Act," he told reporters on March 9, 2014.
"I just want to know if Josh Earnest thinks the American public are stupid enough to be gaslighted into thinking that somehow the president didn't know this was going on. Every single thing Hillary Clinton and her team touches gets infected. Obama is absolutely no different when it comes to this, I think this is going to blow up into a bigger scandal and I don't understand why the media is not covering it."
